Learn-to-Skate Wins Recognition Award
MORRIS TWP., NJ – Mennen Sports Arena in Morris Township, has been recognized for instructing the largest number of participants in the country for their Learn-to-Skate program. Mennen’s highest achievement was recognized by U.S. Figure Skating for the 2008-2009 Basic Skills Learn-to-Skate Season. Mennen Sports Arena program is one of eleven arenas/programs in the country which has more than 1,000 participants in the program.
According to Jackie Palawasta, Director of Skating, “While this award recognizes the greatest number of enrolled participants in the country, these numbers are realized because of the outstanding instruction that the participants receive. The staff at Mennen Sports Arena dedicates itself to every single enrolled participant in helping them to achieve their skating goal.”
Program participants include skaters ages three to adult, beginner to advanced level figure skaters, and hockey skating skills. Classes are taught be Mennen’s Elite Staff Coaches which include, former Olympians, show skaters, and competitors. The team of skating professionals brings over 300 years of combined teaching experience, expertise, and compassion to their class instruction.
Mennen Sports Arena’s Learn-to-Skate program is the best beginning ice skating program for both the recreational and competitive skater. U.S. Figure Skating states the objectives of the Learn-to-Skate program are, “To provide a fun and safe skating experience for the beginner, as well as the more advanced skater, to teach correct technique of the simple basic elements, to promote health and physical fitness, and to enable all participants to achieve the skills necessary to either skate for fun the rest of their lives or to move competently into the U.S. Figure Skating advanced test and/or competitive structure.” Mennen Sports Arena has achieved each of these goals as shown by their membership recognition award.
