Looking for unique and fun party options for your child’s next birthday? Look no further!
Check out the variety of party packages offered below:
Have a fun time horsing around at your child’s next farm party! Host your child’s birthday party at Fosterfields Living Historical Farm, a 1920s living history site in Morristown, NJ. Party packages include admission for twenty children and five adults, and rental of the tent or indoor auditorium. Parties may be scheduled for any day of the week, based on party room, and staff availability. Party packages vary in price and ages.
Farm Party Themes
Barn Party: All ages. April through September. Rent our picnic shelter or tent space to enjoy a birthday picnic with your family. End your day with special guided hands-on activities on the farm, and either a craft or scavenger hunt depending on age.
Farm Friends: Ages 5+. April through September. Meet the friendly animals who live at Fosterfields in a private guided tour with an educator. Learn how to brush cows in a special hands-on activity. End your day with a craft.
Pumpkin Party: All ages. Late September and October weekends only. Enjoy Fosterfields during the autumn and explore the farm on your own. Includes pumpkins for everyone, wagon ride, corn maze, and everything else the farm has to offer.
We Provide
- Private space for three hours
- Tables and chairs
- All craft supplies for included activities
You Supply
- Food, drinks, cake, ice
- Tablecloths and paper goods
- Decorations and party favors
- Set up and clean up
- Note: Helium balloons, noisemakers, and piñatas are not permitted.
Fees and Add Ons
- Barn Party (basic package) is $250. Farm Friends is $300. Pumpkin Party is $500.
- 10-minute wagon ride for all participants is available for an additional $75.
- A $50 security deposit is required. Deposits will not be returned if events exceed schedule time or requires additional cleaning.
- Checks should be written to: Morris County Park Commission. A $50 dollar security deposit is required in a separate check. Deposits will be refunded at the end of your party rental as long as nothing is broken or damaged in the rental room.
- The renters must sign a contract stating they are responsible for any damages to the site or its equipment. The renter is responsible for the behavior of all guests and assumes responsibility for their personal safety.
- Reservations are confirmed upon receipt of payment. There are no cancellation refunds.
Party Details
- Programs are held rain or shine, and all children are encouraged to dress according to the weather, including good walking shoes or sneakers. However, we can reschedule based on availability.
- All participants must observe the Morris County Park Commission’s rules.
- Party packages include admission for thirty people over the age of 4. Additional participants are cost of admission.
- There must be a minimum of one adult per five children for adequate supervision, not including the Park Commission staff.

Host your child’s next birthday party at The Frelinghuysen Arboretum. Group size is limited to a maximum of 20 children, including siblings. Parties may be scheduled for any day of the week, based on party room, and staff availability.
Garden Party Themes
Let’s Go On a Scavenger Hunt!: Ages 3 & Up. Using a list of clues, explore the gardens and search for hidden garden treasures. Find everything and plant a ‘prize’ to take home.
Hungry Caterpillars: Ages 3 – 6. Visit butterfly-friendly gardens and hunt for different fluttering friends. Explore the life cycle of butterflies using Eric Carle’s, “A Very Hungry Caterpillar.
Fairy Friends: Ages 3 & Up. Be fairies for the day and explore the magical garden! Learn where fairies may hide and the plants that attract fairies to the garden. Plant a small fairy garden to take home.
Edible Terrariums: Ages 9 – 12. Learn the layers of a garden and what grows in them and take that new knowledge to create a copy of the garden you can eat!
Centerpiece Masterpiece: Ages 9 – 12. Using seasonal flowers and greens, learn the basics of flower arranging and create a masterpiece to take home.
Teatime: Ages 9 – 12. Take tea with friends and learn how to pour the perfect cup of tea. Party guests will make a centerpiece in tiny teacup. We supply the tea, and you supply the rest.
Prehistoric Plants: Ages 3 & Up. Visit prehistoric plants from when the dinosaurs roamed. Create a fossil to take home.
We Provide

- The birthday party rental is for 3 hours.
- Exclusive use of an indoor classroom space with a refrigerator, tables, and chairs
- Cleaning supplies including broom, paper towels, and cleaner.
- Exclusive use of the outdoor Scherer Pavilion with four picnic tables, weather permitting

Nature Scavenger Hunt:
Search for treasure on our trails in an adventurous and educational nature walk!
Nature Detectives:
Who’s been roaming our trails? Solve the mystery by searching for animal signs, homes, tracks, and other clues left behind by our wild residents.
Seasonal Nature Walk:
Explore our trails with a naturalist for a walk filled with fun nature facts and wildlife sightings!
Creepy Crawly Critters:
It’s a buggy bonanza! Turn the birthday kid into an insect, search for creepy crawlies on our trails, and meet a live ambassador insect.
Bird Brained:
Think like a bird! Can you call a mate or keep up with a hungry nest of chicks? Find out through fun games, activities, and touchable artifacts.
Seasonal Special Topic:
Does your child have a special nature interest? Ask us about our seasonal special topics. We offer a variety of seasonal party programs which can include frogs, bears, owls, turtles, and more!
We Provide

- If there is only one person working on the day of the rental, the building must be locked when the party is outdoors. Parents or visitors cannot stay behind in the building for the duration of the outdoor program.
- All participants must observe the Morris County Park Commission rules.
- There must be a minimum of one adult per five children for adequate supervision, not including the naturalist or Park Commission staff.
- The rental is limited to a classroom only. Children may enter other areas in the nature centers only if supervised by an adult.
