Located within the Hutcheson House, the Music Room is open all year round and offers an indoor space at this historic garden.

On a pastoral 687 acres sits the former home of landscape architect Martha Brookes Hutcheson, circa 1911 to 1959. The gardens showcase Mrs. Hutcheson’s design philosophy and features formal vistas, the enhancement of natural topography, the use of plants linking garden ‘rooms,’ the use of water as a design element, and the use of native materials. The Music Room offers a unique indoor space that is perfect for meetings or as a bridal suite in conjunction with an event tent site rental.

For more information or to reserve space in the gardens and grounds at Bamboo Brook, please fill out the Horticultural Site event form and someone from the Horticultural Reservation office will contact you. Requests will be handled in the order that they are received and by date requested.

Rental Rates

  • Non-profit/Government Use
    • Weekdays 8am to 3pm, non-holiday is $40/hr
    • Off-hours, weekdays after 3pm, weekends, holidays are $85/hr
  • Private/Corporate Use
    • $210/hr
    • Refundable security deposit – $250

Bookings for the Music Room require at least 4 weeks advance reservation.

50% of the rental fee and the applicable refundable security deposit are due upon receipt of your invoice to secure your reservation. The balance of the rental fee and along with other applicable fee(s) will be due 30 days prior to your scheduled event.

The refundable security deposit will be returned after the event if all conditions of the permit are met and there is no damage to the facility.


Responsibilities and Acknowledgments

  • For rental outside of business hours there is a 4-hour minimum rental requirement. (weekdays after 3pm, weekends, holidays)
  • Only the area listed on the permit may be utilized by the renter and only between the times listed.
  • Intended and expected number of guests/attendees are not to exceed the amount set by the Fire Marshal.
  • Vehicle parking along service roads is prohibited. Parking permitted in designated areas only.
  • The park is carry-in/carry-out with no trash service.
  • The area must be left in the condition it was found.
  • Drones and balloons are not allowed.
  • Smoking is prohibited.
  • No garden furniture, plant, rock, animal, or other part of the arboretum may be moved or removed from the premises. No picking, cutting, or damaging of plant materials.
  • The use of open-flame decorative devices is not permitted without the approval of the Morris County Fire Marshal’s Office.
  • Where solid alcohol fuel food warmers are used on top of a serving table, paper or plastic table coverings are not permitted. A flame-resistant tablecloth that covers the entire tabletop shall be used. Table decorations must be flame resistant. Combustible material such as plates, napkins, plastic utensils, cups and similar products shall be separated by a minimum of three (3) feet from the food warmers.
  • Permits are non-transferable from one event to another in whole or in part.
  • Permit expiration time is on the permit. A penalty of double the applicable reservation hourly rate will be assessed for failure to leave on time, as specified on the permit.
  • The Morris County Park Commission employee assigned to your event is there to assist and should have your full cooperation.
  • The County of Morris regulations prohibit employees from accepting gratuities. Donations may be made to The Park Alliance.

Vendor Information

Any vendor performing work on-site as a service to a renter must fill out and a vendor application and provide all the insurance requirements as listed on that application. Vendors include rental company, photographers, caterers, wedding planner, musicians, etc.
