CURRIER AND IVES CHRISTMAS AT HISTORIC SPEEDWELL ON DECEMBER 7 & 8

Monday, November 25, 2019

MORRISTOWN, N.J. Step away from the noise and tinsel of the holiday hustle, and step into a holiday period filled with romance and nostalgia in the 1800s, at Historic Speedwell in Morristown. On Saturday, December 7 and Sunday, December 8, from 12 noon until 5 p.m, take a rare opportunity to visit the decorated Vail House and surround yourself with a sense of simpler, but lovely holiday traditions.

Inspired by the famous printmakers Nathaniel Currier and James Merritt Ives, known for producing hand-painted images, such as The Skating Pond, this holiday celebration, Currier and Ives Christmas, reflects the life and images of Americana.

Join in caroling, take a memorable photo at a sleigh, and dance to live music in the carriage house. Games and crafts that once entertained children in the 1800s, will entertain you too! Take part in the tradition of writing a hope or good tiding for the New Year on paper ‘bread’ and decorate the trees with papers. Toast to the New Year for good health and a plentiful harvest.

Please help us to remember those in need this time of year and donate a non-perishable food item. As a thank you, you will receive a discount coupon to be used towards a purchase in the Holiday Gift Shop at Historic Speedwell.

Admission cost is $7 per adult, $6 per senior, and $5 per child age 4 - 16, and FREE per child age 3 and under for this event.
