MAKE YOUR OWN DELICIOUS, HOMEMADE APPLE CIDER AT THE GREAT SWAMP OUTDOOR EDUCATION CENTER
Wednesday, November 06, 2019MORRISTOWN, NJ. Throughout October and November, enjoy a fun and educational Autumn activity surrounding a beloved fall fruit, the apple. On October 27, November 9, 10, 23, 24, 30, and December 1, the Great Swamp Outdoor Education Center in Chatham Township will be hosting Apple Cidering, hour long indoor demonstrations designed to engage, involve, and educate all ages. Sessions are offered at 12:30 p.m. or 2:30 p.m.
Take part in the fascinating, hands-on process of making apple cider by preparing and grinding the apples, turning the old-fashioned press, and collecting the cider. Watch as locally grown apples are pressed to make sweet cider right before your eyes.
“Did you know that you have been looking at apples upside down your entire life? And that apple pie might not be so American after all?” Jenny Gaus Myers, Manager of Education and Interpretive Programming at the Morris County Park Commission asked. “At Apple Cidering, you’ll learn all about the amazing apple’s place in history and tons of apple- themed fun facts, while enjoying homemade, sweet cider.”
Preregistration is not necessary. Admission to this event is $4 per person age 3 and up, and is first come, first serve. Demos often fill up quickly, so please arrive early. For more information and directions to the Great Swamp Outdoor Education Center, visit morrisparks.net or call 973.635.6629.
