Fosterfields Living Historical Farm

Have a fun time horsing around at your child’s next farm party! Host your child’s birthday party at Fosterfields Living Historical Farm, a 1920s living history site in Morristown, N.J. Party packages include admission for twenty children and ten adults, and rental of the tent or picnic shelter. Reservations are based on site and stafff availability. Party packages vary in price and ages.


Party Themes: 

Barn Party: Enjoy a private space for a birthday picnic with your family. End your day with special hands-on activities on the farm. Make a craft or go on a scavenger hunt. All ages.

Farm Friends:  Meet the friendly animals who live at Fosterfields in a private guided tour with an educator. Spend time with goats or learn how to brush cows depending on age. End your day with a craft. Ages 5+ for Goats, Ages 7+ for Cows.

​We Provide:

  • Private space for three hours
  • Tables and chairs
  • All craft supplies for included activities

You Supply:

  • Food, drinks, ice
  • Tablecloths and paper goods
  • Decorations and party favors
  • Set up and clean up

Fees and Add-Ons:

  • Barn Party (basic package) is $250.
  • Farm Friends (premium packages) are $300. 
  • 10-minute wagon ride for all participants is available for an additional $75
  • A $50 security deposit is required. Deposits will not be returned if events exceed schedule time, or requires additional cleaning

Party Details:

  • Programs are held rain or shine, and all children are encouraged to dress according to the weather, including good walking shoes or sneakers. However, we can reschedule based on availability.
  • All participants must observe the Morris County Park Commission’s rules.
  • The renters must sign a contract stating they are responsible for any damages to the site or its equipment. The renter is responsible for the behavior of all guests and assumes responsibility for their personal safety.
  • Checks should be written to: Morris County Park Commission. A $50 dollar security deposit is required in a separate check, which is returned at the end of the party rental.
  • Party packages include admission for 20 children, and 10 adults. Additional participants are $5/each.
  • Reservations are confirmed upon receipt of payment.

 The Frelinghuysen Arboretum

Host your child’s next birthday party at The Frelinghuysen Arboretum. Group size is limited to a maximum of 20 children, including siblings. Parties may be scheduled for any day of the week, based on party room, and staff availability.


Garden Party Themes:

Ages 3 - 6
Let’s Go On a Scavenger Hunt!: Using a list of clues, explore the gardens and search for hidden garden treasures. Find everything and plant a ‘prize’ to take home.

Hungry Caterpillars: Visit butterfly-friendly gardens and hunt for different fluttering friends. Explore the life cycle of butterflies using Eric Carle’s, “A Very Hungry Caterpillar.”

Fairy Friends: Be fairies for the day and explore the magical garden! Learn where fairies may hide and the plants that attract fairies to the garden. Plant a small fairy garden to take home.
 

Ages 6 - 12
Edible Terrariums: Learn the layers of a garden and what grows in them and take that new knowledge to create a copy of the garden you can eat!

Centerpiece Masterpiece: Using seasonal flowers and greens, learn the basics of flower arranging and create a masterpiece to take home.

Tea Time: Take tea with friends and learn how to pour the perfect cup of tea.  Party guests will make a centerpiece in tiny tea cup.  We supply the tea and cookie, you supply the rest. 


We Provide:

  • A one-hour interactive program with education staff
  • The birthday party rental is for 3 hours.
  • Exclusive use of an indoor classroom space with a refrigerator, tables, and chairs
  • Cleaning supplies including broom, paper towels, and cleaner.
  • Exclusive use of the outdoor Scherer Pavilion with four picnic tables, weather permitting

You Supply:

  • Set-up and clean up
  • Decorations and party favors
  • Food and/or cake

Note:  No helium balloons, noisemakers, or piñatas are permitted.

Fees: 

  • The fee for a birthday party rental is $250. Prepayment is required for all rentals.
  • Checks should be made payable to Morris County Park Commission. A $50 security deposit is required in a separate check that will be returned at the end of the party rental if there is no damage, site is left broom clean, and all parts of contract have been followed.
  • Renters must sign a contract stating they are responsible for any damage to the site or gardens and the renter is responsible for the behavior of all guests and assume responsibility for their safety.
  • Reservations are confirmed upon receipt of payment.

Party Details:

  • Programs are held rain or shine and all attendees should dress for the weather. However, we can reschedule based on availability.
  • Only the spaces listed above are part of the rental. If children enter the gardens or other areas, they must be supervised by adults.
  • All participants must observe the Morris County Park Commission rules.
  • There must be a minimum of one adult per five children for adequate supervision, not including the Park Commission staff.

Great Swamp OEC 

Choose from an array of fun and unique themed parties for your child’s next birthday celebration. Parties are available for children ages 4 and up.

Group size is limited to a maximum of 20 children, including siblings. Parties may be scheduled for any day of the week, based on party room, and staff availability.


Nature Party Themes:

Seasonal Nature Walk: Enjoy a leisurely walk with a naturalist who points out the wonders of nature in a variety of habitats.

Nature Scavenger Hunt: Work in teams to search out the “treasures on the trails” during an adventurous and educational nature walk.

Meet the Animals!: (Only available at the Great Swamp) Meet a variety of LIVE animals up close, including reptiles and invertebrates. Learn about their role in nature, and get the chance to touch some!

Nature Detectives: Who’s been roaming the trails? Solve the mystery by searching for animal signs, homes, sounds, and other clues left behind by our wild residents.

Bird Brained: Learn what life is like as a bird. Can you call a mate or keep up with a hungry nest of chicks? Find out through fun games, activities, and a walk.

Creepy Crawly Critters: Capture, examine, and release real specimens while learning all about these tiny, amazing creatures.

Lenape Life: (For ages 8 and older, only!) Fascinated by Native American life? Play exciting, real Native American games, try making fire with friction, visit a wigwam (only at GSOEC) and more!

We Provide:

  • Private room for three hours
  • One hour indoor/outdoor nature program led by a trained naturalist
  • Tables and chairs
  • Refrigerator, sink, microwave, and stovetop (only at GSOEC)
  • Trash bags and cleaning supplies (mop, broom, dust pan, sponges, vacuum)

  • Food, drinks, ice
  • Tablecloths and paper goods
  • Decorations and party favors
  • Set up and clean up

Note: Helium balloons, noisemakers, and piñatas are NOT permitted.

  • Programs are held rain or shine, and all children are encouraged to dress according to the weather, including good walking shoes or sneakers.
  • If there is only one person working on the day of the rental, the building must be locked when the party is outdoors. Parents or visitors cannot stay behind in the building for the duration of the outdoor program.
  • All participants must observe the Morris County Park Commission rules.
  • There must be a minimum of one adult per five children for adequate supervision, not including the naturalist or Park Commission staff.
  • The rental is limited to a classroom only. Children may enter other areas in the nature centers only if supervised by an adult.

Mennen Sports Arena

Come to Mennen Sports Arena to celebrate your child’s birthday with an ice skating party!

Group size includes 22 children. Additional skaters can be added for an extra $9 per child.

Fees:

  • Evenings, Weekends, and Holidays: $210.00
  • Weekday mornings and afternoons: $195.00
  • Additional skaters: $9.00
  • Birthday Party Packages require a 50% non-refundable/non-transferable deposit with a signed contract when you reserve your party date.
  • Reservations are confirmed upon receipt of payment.

  • Please stop in the office the day of your party, pay your balance and receive your wristbands for admission and rentals.
