Community Gardens

Grow Your Own, and Teach Kids, Too

Gardeners, young and old, are invited to join a half-century tradition at Frelinghuysen Arboretum by getting out their gardening tools, getting their hands dirty, and showing off their green thumbs!

The Community Garden is a place where adults can rent a plot to grow vegetables, flowers, and fruits of their choosing. It is part of a longstanding tradition of the Morris County Park Commission, which encourages plant lovers, experienced and beginner, to grow, harvest, work together, and form a community.

There are 120 plots (10-foot by 20-foot) available for rental for a season that runs from spring to late fall, or the entire year. In addition, select plots are grown exclusively for the local food pantry and are maintained by dedicated volunteers.

Registration begins each year in January. Plots sell out quickly, so make your reservation early.
